About Jen
Ten has been an educator for 40+ years. At the age of 5 she KNEW she wanted to be a teacher and has worked with students and educators almost every day since.
Jennifer attended Pacific Christian College pursuing her interest in Preschool Education. She strongly feels that her enjoyment in hosting projects and sharing creative ways of teaching is because of her firm foundation in preschool education.
In the 1970's, while visiting USC, Jennifer wandered into the "tech room" on campus and instantly was fascinated and fixated on computer opportunities. Though his name is long-forgotten, Jennifer will be ever grateful to a nice gentleman that took a hour of his schedule that day just to show Jen about the tech department, answering all her questions, and enjoying her fascination with computer punch-cards.
In 1995, Jennifer purchased her first computer and was hooked. That evening a friend introduced her to AOL and from that moment on, technology opportunities were a part of Jennifer's life. She volunteered at AOL as @AACTchJen in the homework chatroom which led her to LVS, an online learning portal. Always on a journey, she was a sponge of learning and then in turn, found ways to share out what she had learned.
Since the late 1990's, Jennifer's main focus has moved from working with students to working with teachers. She attends many local and state conferences each year, sharing ideas and also frequents many virtual conference opportunities! Plus, she has a blog, hosts a podcast, and is very happy with the invention of "pinterest". (oh, and she is quite vocal on twitter!) During the early 2000's, she was a co-host from the Women of the Web 2.0 podcast: http://edtechtalk.com/WomenofWeb2.0?page=22
But no worries, there is life away from tech (yes, Jen is one of those who can turn off her phone). She is very involved with her church.....as well as enjoying movies, trivia, long talks with good friends, and reading a good book from the comfort of her home.
In Dec 2018, Jen was diagnosed with Stage 4 skin cancer. If you would like to follow her journey -- please visit: https://www.gofundme.com/f/jen-wagner-support
